What:    17th Annual Baskets O’Plenty Auction

Sponsors:        Walmart, Wegmans, Town of Niagara Business & Professional Assoc., Lewiston Service Guild and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority

Where:   BPO Elks Lodge #346

        1805 Fashion Outlet Blvd., Town of Niagara

 

Time:     Basket Preview 3pm – 7pm, Drawings Begin at 7:30pm

 

Cost:    $12 Pre-sale, $15 admission at the door (includes 25 chances towards basket drawings)

 

Description:     

More than 175 theme baskets with a minimum value of $35 will be featured at the event. There will also be a side raffle with items valued at $50 or more, 50/50 drawings and door prizes throughout the event.  Also featuring  – a “Pot O’ Gold” Raffle of a lottery and cash tree with over $300 in lottery tickets and $200 in cash!!!

Guardianship & Special needs trust information – Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara SiblingS & Families group to hOST angelo massaro, esq. march 15

Who:      Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara will host Angelo Massaro, Esq. who will provide detailed information on guardianship and special needs trusts -- topics that effect all families of individuals with disabilities.

What:     The program, part of a series of educational and social gatherings during the year, is open to any

               adult who has a family member with developmental disabilities, regardless of where that individual

may participate in programming.

Where:   Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara Wheatfield location at 2510 Niagara Falls Blvd., between

Witmer and Sy Roads.  Free, lighted parking is available in the back of the building.

When:    Monday, March 15, 2010. 

A light dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m and the program will run from 6-7 p.m.

Art workshops from April to September led by professional artists, with limited openings for community participation.  These workshops are made possible, in part, with funds from the Arts Niagara Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts, administered by the Tonawandas’ Council on the Arts/Carnegie Art Center.   Additional funds were provided by Target, as part of their ongoing support provided to local communities throughout the country.  During the 90-minute workshops, local artists will teach basic skills in various media including painting, photography, printmaking, and papermaking to people with developmental disabilities served by Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara and interested community members.  This year, workshops are planned at Opportunities Unlimited sites as well as Niagara University’s Castellani Art Gallery, the Market Street Art Center, the Kenan Center, Our Lady of Peace Nursing Home, and the Lockport Library. 

Who:

All workshops are open to the public and a nominal fee may be charged for supplies.   Community participants must pre-register by contacting Marcia Ross at 434-4050 ext. 417.

 These art education workshops are designed to develop the artistic abilities within people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities, while promoting community integration through the inclusion of the participants and volunteers from the public at each session.

WHAT:          

A gala dinner and awards ceremony celebrating the abilities of individuals with developmental disabilities, and the employees, volunteers an community businesses and organizations who are dedicated to making Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara a success.  

Mary Alice Demler, Anchor for WGRZ-TV will be the emcee.

The co-chairs for this year’s event are Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara Foundation Board Member Pat Minarcin and Betsy Higgins, member of both the Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara Agency and Foundation Boards of Directors.

Description:     The celebrity bartending event is one of the Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara Foundation’s most entertaining fundraisers and features well-known community members helping to raise funds for people with disabilities. Talent Show: 7:15 –10 p.m.

Description:  This 2nd annual occasion will feature the talents of individuals with developmental disabilities through song, dance, theater and fine arts and crafts. All artists and participants receive complimentary admission while there will be a $2 cost for general admission. 

Benefits:      The Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara Foundation, which provides a long-term source of financial support that ensures people with developmental disabilities have opportunities toward independence and integration within the community.

STATE OF THE STATE – Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara Parent/Sibling group to Host NYS Maziarz - RESCHEDULED TO DECEMBER 14 FROM NOV 9

Who:   Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara will host New York State Senator George Maziarz who will provide updates on issues that effect families of individuals with disabilities.

What: The program, part of a series of educational and social gatherings during the year, is open to any adult who has a family member with developmental disabilities, regardless of where that individual may participate in programming

Where:Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara Wheatfield location at 2510 Niagara Falls Blvd., between Witmer and Sy Roads.  Free, lighted parking is available in the back of the building. When: Monday, December 14. A light dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m and the program will run from 6-7 p.m.

Gift Wrap Booth - Volunteer at the Booth!

When:   Tuesday, December 1 – Thursday, December 24, 2009
Times:  Hours vary; please call to volunteer for a shift. 
Description:  The gift wrap booth is a wonderful convenience that allows shoppers to take a break from their busy holiday shopping and have their holiday wrapping done for them in exchange for a minimal donation. There are various boxes sizes available as well as beautiful wrapping paper choices. Also, once again there will be floral arrangements for sale, which have been created by people with developmental disabilities who participate in the agency’s horticulture therapy program, also known as the Niagara Floral Center and Greenhouse.

2010 Daily Drawing Calendars! On Sale Now! 

 

What:     Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara Foundation’s 2010 Daily Drawing Calendar 

 

When:     January 2010 – December 2010

 

Cost:    $30 each

 

Description:

There are over 365 chances to win more than $20,000 in prizes while supporting people with developmental disabilities. This year, we are highlighting various 2009 Foundation events.   We are awarding $250 prizes on those dates and $50 prizes on the remaining days.

 

Winners are determined by a drawing at the Foundation.  Winning numbers are available upon request by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to the OUN Foundation.
